About The Campaign

American Cities '08 is the Nonpartisan Voice of Cities and Towns in the 2008 Elections

Our goal is to ensure Presidential candidates from both parties talk about the impact their policies have on cities and towns-home to 7 in 10 Americans. Presidential hopefuls must recognize that America's hometowns are the first line of protection and provide the services that enrich the quality of life for our citizens.  A partnership between the federal government and local governments is the only way to move America forward.

Hometown Issues are National Issues

From illegal immigration to greenhouse gases, our mayors and town councils are being confronted everyday by issues that need to be dealt with locally, nationally, and even internationally. The innovative ideas used to fight these battles daily in our hometowns are central to the national dialogue. America's Hometowns need a new partnership with a new commitment from our next President to help us create a better nation for all Americans.

American Cities '08 is a project of the National League of Cities-the oldest and largest national organization representing municipal governments throughout the United States. Its mission is to strengthen and promote cities as centers of opportunity, leadership, and governance.
